Opportunity: Diversity in Diplomacy Seminar

If you have ever wanted to learn how to travel for a living, this is the event for you!

The keynote speaker is Darion Akins, the Diplomat-in-Residence for the DC Metro Area with the U.S. Department of State. He is a career Foreign Service Officer who has worked around the world in countries such as Malaysia, India, Afghanistan, Australia, and Indonesia. Before becoming DC's Diplomat-in-Residence, he was the Consul General at the U.S. Consulate in Hamburg, Germany. Mr. Akins speaks German, Japanese, and ChiNyanja. He will share his incredible knowledge and experience with all who attend.

Chelsea Brown will host this session. She is a Baltimore native and U.S. diplomat who has lived and worked in seven countries before the age of 32. Chelsea has a master's degree in Intercultural and International Communication from American University, and a certificate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from Cornell University. In her spare time, she runs a YouTube channel and blog called, Hey Ms. Traveler. Hey Ms. Traveler educates and inspires underrepresented groups to travel and pursue careers in international affairs.

This event is apart of a series on Hey, Ms. Traveler, a travel education brand. This series focuses on travel jobs and educates the public on scholarships, fellowships, and opportunities that lead to life-changing careers.
